Ankle sprain

A sprain is an overstretch or tear of a ligament. Ankle sprains commonly cause pain, swelling, bruising, and difficulty bearing weight.

Picture This

You land on another player's foot during basketball and your foot turns inward under you (a common mechanism for a lateral ankle sprain). It swells quickly and walking hurts. What matters now: recognizing the injury, protecting it, and knowing when it needs evaluation.

FOOT & ANKLE MOTIVATION“Don’t put your goals on the back foot.”Strong feet and ankles help keep you moving forward.
Why it can happenTwisting or overstretching the joint can injure the ligament; sport and tired muscles are common contributors.
Rehab focusAs pain settles, gradual movement, strength, and balance work can help restore function and reduce recurrence risk.
◎ Example: calf raises + single-leg balance
